Sophie’s Universe So Far…
7th November 2015
You’re probably wondering what on earth Sophie’s Universe is. And if you’re not, you must be a hooker. Crochet hooker, I mean…
Okay, enough with the bad jokes.
Sophie’s Universe is a magnificent crocheted blanket pattern developed by the talented Dedri at the Look What I Made blog.
This thing really is a thing of beauty. It is a total of 113 rounds, plus squares to border, with each round totally different and needing your full attention when crocheting (it is a serious brain-bender).
The Sophie’s Universe patterns was created and released as a CAL (Crochet-A-Long) back in January and lasted for 20 weeks. I was a little late to the party and it’s safe to say that I haven’t been very good at keeping up with the group as most people have now finished their’s and I’m only about halfway through.
I’m currently on Part 8 of the design and have just completed round 65. See – I told you I was only about halfway through.
I chose to use Stylecraft Special DK yarn for this blanket, mainly because I needed a lot of it and it was cheap, but also because of their amazing colour choice. I went for a range of 12 colours, all themed around the film Frozen. I love the bright but cool colours, and love the crazy detailed effect that the range of colours is giving.
I’ve seen some amazing versions of this pattern though, and have been struck by how beautiful it can look doing the whole thing in one colour. I think I’ll have to add that to the list…
